WISH Women's Shelter

It's time to clean out the closet and recycle clothing that you just don't wear anymore, the bedding that is never going to be used or the extra bottle of shampoo that you bought on impulse.

This month we're giving to WISH Drop-in Centre Society. WISH is a drop-in site for survival sex workers. WISH is able to provide a safe place for these women, offering nutrition, support and opportunity for change.

These are the items they WISH for:
-Underwear, socks, tights and pantyhose
-Makeup and toiletries (new and used)
-Toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash
-Season-appropriate clothing
-Coats, hats and gloves
-Shoes and boots
-Bedding and towels

Here are some more items that you could donate to WISH:
-Arts and crafts supplies
-First Aid supplies
-Bus tickets for participants
-Funding for a participant phone line
-Long distance cards for women to call home

So this weekend, when you have so down time, go through your belongings and recycle what you don't need or want anymore. Send either Megan or Amanda an email and we will organize with you where to drop it off to us, so we can drop it off to WISH, which will be sometime early next week.

East Coast Challengers, if you recycle and donate on your side of the country to a worth organization, make sure to let us know!

Hey Amanda and Megan
Here in Calgary, I have found a group home for battered single mothers called the Discovery House. They also need all of the items you mentioned in your list, except they are also in desperate need of baby items. I have challenged my girlfriends and the women I nanny for to donate all they can, and we try to bring a load every month. So if anyone is in Alberta that has items they no longer need let Amanada know.
