A Vancouver based Web-designer sent us a great resource for us to use called Lendlist.org. All you do is create a profile for yourself and all of the belongings in your house that you would lend out to other challengers, family, friends and neighbours. The more people you share this resource with, the more items there are to borrow!
In Jordan Klassen's own words, "Lendlist.org is a rebellion against materialism and consumerism. We rebel by lending. We think lending is good. We think it is a better way to live. The lender gets more use out of their items, reduces their attachment to their material possessions, and helps out the borrower. The borrower saves money and the environment by not buying something they don't need to buy."
We started our own community on Lendlist.org, obviously called Consumerism Challenge. Once you've created a profile, type in "Challengers" at the top of the page and it will take you to our community link. I (Amanda) have started to put together my profile with goods I would love to lend to others. You will see me as ASC, which are my initials. The sooner people place their profiles, the sooner we can start to borrow from each other!
This is a great way for us to connect with each other... to share by reducing, reusing and recycling the materials that we own and to get better mileage out of the many items we buy.
Find the link to Lendlist.org under the heading Use Your Voice.
Happy Borrowing!!
